Assignment types provide different assessment options to determine who will initiate and complete a submitted asset; a learner, an assessor, or both people.
Learner initiated
A learner initiates the submission by sharing assets to an ATLAS workspace to demonstrate their skills, knowledge or behaviours. If required, this is restricted to:
- quantity of assets - one, a set number (e.g. 5), or unlimited
- asset type - one only (e.g workbook), a selection, or any asset type
To view:
- A learner must share with ATLAS
- An assessor can only view their submission after an asset has been shared.
A workspace manager controls the assignment settings in a workspace.
Assessor initiated
An assessor initiates the submission using a structured feedback template to provide assessment for a learner's performance or presentation.
To initiate:
- From the submission list in the workspace, select the correct assignment.
- Scroll to the learner's name, and click Generate submission.
- The feedback template will open a new window in submission viewer
- Add feedback and add a grade, where required.
- When complete, release the page to the learner.
An assessor can only generate one submission per learner.
A workspace manager must set up the assignment, including attaching a feedback template.
Combined initiation
A submission can be initiated by either:
- a learner - who can share for ATLAS in the usual way, or
- an assessor - who can generate an asset as an assessor-initiated submission
Where an assessor creates the asset, this is made available to the learner in their Asset Store.
To initiate:
- From the submission list in the workspace, select the correct assignment.
- Scroll to the learner's name, and click Generate submission.
- The asset (submission) will open a new window in submission viewer
- Assessors can add feedback, including complete assessor fields.
The assignment settings control the number of submissions per learner, with unlimited an option.
A workspace manager must set up the assignment, including attaching a resource (template or workbook) for the submission.
