A workspace submission list organises and filters work by assignment, and Submission Viewer allows you to view and assess based on your enrolment permissions.
Submission list
Every workspace contains a submissions tab for at least one assignment, or multiple assignments if activated. Click the submissions tab to access.
The list provides information to organise, filter and summarise by assignment or submission.

Open Submission Viewer
Submission Viewer is how submissions (assets) are viewed in ATLAS. It opens loaded with the submissions currently being displayed in the submission list.
If a filter's applied, (e.g. submissions with new activity), only these submissions will be opened. To see all submissions, first clear any filters in the submission list, and then open Submission Viewer.
To open:
- Click the title of one of the submissions
- The Submission Viewer will open in a new tab loaded with all the submissions from the list.
To close:
- Close the browser tab containing Submission Viewer
- You are returned to the workspace submission list, in its own browser window.
Navigate Submission Viewer
The Submission Viewer displays one submission at a time.
Workbook contents
To navigate between the pages of one workbook, use the content dropdown, or menu tabs along the top of the page.
Move between submissions
A navigation bar is shown at the bottom of Submission Viewer and displays:
- the number of submissions loaded into the viewer,
- buttons to go backwards or forwards between submissions.
Assessment preferences
For a workbook, you can set a personal preference how the next submission is viewed:
- Open on the first page of the next or previous submission
- Open on the same page of the next or previous submission (if possible)
To set:
- Click the setting cog in the top menu bar.
- Click Assessment preference from the list
- Choose your preferred option
- Click Save setting (if preference is changed)
Submission Viewer sidebar
A sidebar appears along the righthand side of the Submission Viewer. It can be opened and closed, and stretched wider or shrunk narrower to change its appearance.
The sidebar contains four panels containing additional information about the submission:
- Feedback
- Comments
- Progress
- Export
To use:
- Click the blue sidebar icon to open
- Click, hold and drag the blue toggle to resize the sidebar
- Click Close to shut the sidebar
Submission permissions
When working through a submission in Submission Viewer, it is your assessor enrolment permissions in the workspace that determine how you can interact to provide assessment to:
- add a comment
- add feedback
- add a grade
- add an approval
- add a page verification
- assess with Turnitin
- manage feedback
If you find your abilities to assess are different between workspaces, this will be due to your enrolment permissions.
