Learning Design engages PebblePad specialists in a structured and well-rehearsed project process that is available to any customer at an additional charge.
Overview
The Learning Design service is useful when you are expanding PebblePad use into one or more discipline or subject areas and require more focused support or expertise.
Learning Design is the structured consultation and planning process that involves:
- working with you to understand your needs,
- providing an outline solution.
If building is required, this phase is where any recommended custom resources can either be made by our Learning Designer, or by your own in-house teams.
All Learning Design activity works on a project basis, meaning it has an agreed:
- start date,
- set delivery period,
- end date.
The delivery of a learning design project is a collaborative process where we work together to find a solution.
If you have not already, we will help you to identify PebblePad Roles within your organisation, for the right people to manage the project, and provide subsequent training to users.

Learning Design & Custom Build
A series of 3 discovery workshops to gather, plan and recommend a viable solution. Our Learning Designer builds any custom resources, which are then sense-checked by you.
Custom Build
Our Learning Designer builds any custom resources, which are then sense-checked by you. Also recommended for a rebuild of resources that have previously gone through the Learning Design process.
Generally, one Learning Design project provides a solution for one use case of PebblePad.
Establishing your needs
Our goal is to help establish with absolute clarity what you require from your use of PebblePad and takes a broad look at three key elements:
- Why use PebblePad?
Why an alternative platform isn’t working, and what does success look like. -  What does PebblePad need to do?
For the teaching, learning and assessment to be effective. - How will the use be launched and supported?
From communications plans to ongoing support.
The Learning Design Project Planner
To structure the process, we use a Learning Design Project Plan (LDPP) document to collaborate on with the customer. This acts as the official record of what the project and can be used as a reference during the project, and after it has finished.
Project process
The Learning Design process includes:
- Workshops
A series of workshops with the whole team help us explore more about what you want to achieve with PebblePad in your teaching, learning and assessment process.
- Building
If requested, we build resources and workflows, and demonstrate them to you. Taking notes from our sense-checking meetings, we refine the build so that it meets your needs.
- Training
When ready, we provide a train-the-trainer session to explain and discuss the set-up. This will help you to organise and host your own training sessions with staff and students.
- Handover
Finally, with the project complete, your specialist PebblePad Learning Designer returns you to your dedicated Customer Success Manager who will provide ongoing support and consultancy.
