The properties panel controls how a workbook is accessed and completed. It's used to reorder pages, enable mapping, cascade tags and change other settings.
Property levels
A workbook has three levels of properties:
- Block - set-up each content block on the page with individual settings.
- Template - set-up the individual page's settings within the workbook.
- Workbook - set-up the overall workbook's settings to control how it is used.
For a one-page template, see Template properties.
Template - Category
Set the type of template to indicate its intended purpose. The resource icon will correspond in the Resource Store.
![]() | Experience To record completed activities and events. |
![]() | Plan To identify goals and how to achieve them. |
![]() | Reflection To consider past events and actions. |
![]() | Talent To showcase skills and abilities. |
![]() | Feedback To assess work by yourself or others. |
![]() | Worksheet To respond to questions and tasks. |
Template - Page release
Hide and show the visibility of each individual page within a workbook.
The page is shown at all times. (Default option)
The page is hidden and only shown when another page has been verified by an assessor in ATLAS. The dropdown menu selects which existing page releases the current page.
Useful when: a learner's progress needs to be assessed and verified before proceeding.
The page is hidden and made visible on the date selected. Learners receive a notification when a new page becomes visible in a workbook.
Useful when: content or activities need to be automatically released at designated intervals to all learners.
Template - Page locking
Enable assessors to lock a page when it is verified in ATLAS. This will prevent learners from making further changes to the individual page in Pebble+, but can continue to work on the remainder of the workbook.
See the assessor's guide to adding a page verification and working with locked submissions.
Template - Reuse page
New pages added when building a workbook are not visible as individual templates in the Resource Store. Ticking this option makes the template available so it can be reused as a page within another workbook or the template copied to create a new resource.
Editing a resource will impact all its asset responses.
Template - Page reordering
The current page can be moved to another position in the workbook's contents and menu bar.
Nested workbook
If the current page is located within a nested workbook, it can only be reordered within the nested workbook, and not moved to its own tab or other nested workbook.
To reorder:
- Click the Workbook properties tab
- Scroll to the very bottom of the sidebar
- Click the Reorder [nested workbook] button
Template - Default settings
Set the appearance of new content blocks added to the page, or update in bulk all existing blocks using the Apply to all button.
Tick to show / untick to hide the visibility of a block's hint text when the asset is previewed or viewed.
Tick to place hint text within the block's response area where possible, or untick to show hint text beneath the block's title,
In-field hints cannot be text formatted and disappear when a response is entered.
Untick to hide the block if the learner has not yet provided a response in the content block, or tick to show the block even if the field is empty.
Preview means to open the asset in read-only mode using the preview button, and to view is when shared with the web or with ATLAS for assessment.
Workbook - Usage
Set the number of asset responses each person can create from this resource.
The workbook resource can only be used to create one asset response. Attempts to create additional asset responses will see the user redirected to their existing saved asset response in the Asset Store.
Optionally, tick Add to task list to indicate to the learner this workbook must be completed.
Useful when: only one asset response is required or permitted.
The workbook resource can only have a specified number of asset responses created by each user. When reusing, the learner is prompted to either:
- continue working on an existing asset response (open the asset), or,
- create a new asset response.
When the total asset response limit is reached, the learner is redirected to open an existing asset only.
Useful when: a specified number of asset responses are required or permitted.
The workbook resource can have an unlimited number of asset responses created.
Useful when: the number of asset responses is unknown or unrestricted.
Workbook - Mapping
Enable the workbook to have assets mapped. It must:
- contain one or more capability blocks on at least one page.
- be set to single use only.
A workbook with mapping enabled cannot itself then be mapped to another asset.
Workbook - Cascade tags
A cascading tag passes any resource tags and retains them with the asset response .
Read more about tagging an asset.
Workbook - Progress tracking
Enable progress tracking on a workbook for a learner to mark a page as complete and keep track of their overall progress.
When enabled at workbook level, an individual page can be opted out of progress tracking by disabling at a template level.
Workbook - Calculate points and time
Enable the auto-calculation of hours and/or points used across the entire workbook to give one total sum, for example:
- Two or more activity log pages.
- Two or more pages using a table using auto-sum.
- An activity log, and page with table using auto sum.
Read more about breakdown of submission reports.
Workbook - Featured banner
Select an image to be used as the banner on all existing and new pages.
A banner image can still be changed on an individual page if required.
