View PebblePad assignment in Canvas

When a PebblePad assignment is used with a Canvas course, a learner submits to an ATLAS workspace and an assessor accesses the submissions to give feedback.

A workspace manager must first set up a Canvas-linked assignment.

Access assignment

A PebblePad assignment within a Canvas course uses role recognition. This means, when the link is clicked, students are directed towards Pebble+, and Instructors are directed towards ATLAS and into the correct workspace.

To open:

  1. Log in to Canvas in the usual way with your regular account.
  2. Navigate to the correct Canvas course.
  3. Click the PebblePad assignment link on the page.
  4. Click the Load [PebblePad Assignment] in a new window button.
  5. ATLAS opens in a new window with the correct submission list displayed.

Assess and feedback

The account permissions from Canvas will be passed into ATLAS (e.g. Instructor to Manager), giving you the ability to use the assessment tools in the usual way:

To assess:

  1. Filter the submission list and open with Submission Viewer.
  2. Use the tools to add feedback, add grades and more.
  3. Manage feedback to release it to learners.

Return to Canvas

When you have completed your assessment session, you can close ATLAS and return to Canvas.

To close:

  1. Close the tab window with Submission Viewer.
  2. Close the tab window with the workspace submission list.
  3. Click the tab window with your Canvas course.

A prompt will alert you to any unsaved changes when closing the browser window.

Grade synchronisation

A grade given to a PebblePad submission in a workspace can be passed over to its linked Canvas course.

To sync:

  1. Add a grade to the ATLAS submission.
  2. Release the grade to the learner.
  3. The grade will pass into Canvas and add to the Grade Centre column.

The grade will need to be released in Gradebook for it to be visible to the learner in Canvas.
