Manage workspace archiving

An assignment and a workspace can be archived or deleted when they are finished with. Performed correctly, there will be no loss of functionality or data.

Archive an assignment

An individual assignment in a workspace can be stopped. This means:

  • Submissions will be read-only, with no further assessment possible.
  • Any unreleased feedback cannot be released, and will not be visible to learners.
  • No further submissions can be shared with the assignment.

To archive:

  1. From the workspace, click Management and Assignments from the sub menu.
  2. In the 3 dot menu, click Stop assignment.
  3. Tick the confirmation and click Continue.

A copy is of each submission will be saved 'as was' at the time of archiving. A learner who deletes their asset will not delete the copy in ATLAS.

Restore an assignment

An archived assignment can be restored if necessary, returning it to function as before. To prevent unintentionally resyncing, the archived date will be added as the deadline date if it was previously blank.

To reactivate:

  1. In the workspace, click Management and choose Assignments.
  2. In the 3 dot menu, click the Restore icon.
  3. Tick to confirm and click Continue.

A workspace manager must have the permission to unarchive assignment, which can be granted in the manager's enrolment tab.

Delete an assignment

An assignment can be deleted from a workspace. It means:

  • The submissions will no longer be accessible in ATLAS.
  • Unreleased feedback will not be releasable to learners.
  • The assignment cannot be restored once it's deleted.

To delete:

  1. In the workspace, click Management and choose Assignments.
  2. Click the Bin icon
  3. Tick to confirm and click Continue.

An assignment should only be deleted if all submissions are no longer needed.
