Play, pause and rewind controls are used with assignments that have ongoing assessment to change between a live real-time version, and a previous version.
To perform all the following actions, your workspace tutor permissions must include Organise submissions and Manage assignments. Ask your workspace manager for assistance.
Live
When an assignment passes the start date, learners can share with ATLAS to submit for assessment. Attempts to submit before this time will be denied or rejected.
While live, a continuous synchronisation is maintained between the learner's asset and the workspace submission. Each time the learner saves a change, the submitted version is updated.
To view:
- Check the You are viewing menu is set to Live
- Click the submission title to open in Submission Viewer
- The submission opens in real-time.
To synchronise, the assignment's deadline and modify dates must be in the future and not yet reached.
Rewind
A submission can be seen at a previous point in time, back to the date it was first submitted. Whilst viewing, current changes continue to synchronise, but you will see a fixed version taken from the date selected.
To view:
- In the submission list, click Specify a date to choose a previous time
- Add the date to rewind to and click Go
- Click the submission title to open in Submission Viewer
- In the submission list, change the menu to return to Live
During rewind, you can read-only to see a submission 'as was'. To provide assessment, the view must be Live or Paused.
Pause
Pausing an assignment will temporarily halt the continuous synchronisation between the learner's asset version and the submitted workspace version.
- Learners - can make changes to their asset, but these will not be seen in ATLAS.
- Assessors - can view a fixed version of the submission to give feedback.
To pause:
- In the submission list with the correct assignment showing, click Pause Assignment
- Read the warning, tick, and click Continue.
- While paused, feedback can be added to submissions.
When an assignment has been paused, the workspace stores a permanent record of the submissions from this date. It can be accessed from the You are viewing dropdown menu once the assignment is playing again.
Play
Playing an assignment will resume the continuous synchronisation between the learner's asset version and the submitted workspace version.
All changes made by a learner since the assignment was paused will resynchronise with the submission instantly, and continuously update from here on.
To play:
- In the submission list with the correct assignment showing, click Play Assignment.
- Read the warning, tick, and click Continue
A playing assignment that has passed a deadline or modify date, will stop continuous synchronisation.
