Give feedback

Feedback can be added to a submission for formal, summative assessment of learner's work, and they can reply to your post for ongoing discussion and direction.

Feedback sidebar

A feedback post can be added to a submission in the Submission Viewer sidebar. If the submission is a workbook, the post can be attached to either:

  • the page currently open in the workbook
  • the overall workbook

To post:

  1. With the submission open in Submission Viewer, click the sidebar icon to open it
  2. Click the Feedback tab
  3. Click the I want to... button and choose Add feedback
  4. Type feedback into the text area.
  5. (If workbook) Choose to save to individual page or overall workbook
  6. Click Save & Hold/Release.

Read more about managing feedback to hold, release or recall from learners.

Feedback statements

Feedback statements are pre-written sentences and paragraphs available to be dropped into your feedback to quickly add common or repeated phrases.

To add:

  1. Click Insert Statement to reveal the options
  2. Click a statement to add to the text area.
  3. The added text can be edited, if required.
  4. Repeat steps to add more statements.

The statements must be prepared in advance by a workspace manager.

Feedback templates

A feedback template is a separate page that will be attached to the submission in the sidebar. It provides a structured assessment and a variety of content block types.

The template must be built in advance by a resource builder and added to the workspace by a workspace manager.

To use:

  1. With the submission open in Submission Viewer, click the sidebar icon to open it
  2. Click the Feedback tab
  3. Click the I want to... button and choose Add feedback template.
  4. Choose a template from the list.
  5. Complete the fields on the structured page
  6. Click Save & Hold/Release

Edit a template

A feedback template's content (not the template itself) can be edited while it is unreleased to the learner. If already released, it must be recalled first, before it can be edited.

To edit:

  1. Click the 3 dot menu
  2. Click Edit template

Assessor field feedback

A submission may contain blocks known as assessor fields, which are indicated with a To be completed by label.

These blocks allow assessors to interact on the page, by typing, ticking and selecting from the available options. A learner will be able to read your feedback when it is released, but cannot make changes to it.

To complete:

  1. Scroll to a block indicated as an assessor field.
  2. Type, tick or choose as necessary to complete.
  3. Click Save & Hold/Release

Block feedback

Block level feedback allows assessment to be added to every block where a learner has added a response.

To add:

  1. Scroll to the block on the page.
  2. Click +Add and choose Add feedback
  3. In the sidebar, type the feedback (feedback statements are available)
  4. Click Save & Hold/Release

A feedback icon is added next to the +Add button on the page to indicate its presence.

A workspace manager must enable block feedback on the workspace.
