A workspace manager can enable grading and select the type used for assessment between traditional grading or a scorecard - plus set-up its weighting criteria.
To access:
- Within the workspace, click Management.
- Click Feedback from the sub menu.
- Click Grade settings from the page tabs.
At minimum, you will need to be a workspace manager with lead tutor permissions.
Enable grading
Grading can be enabled on a workspace, with the options:
- None - grading is disabled.
- Traditional - text area for letter, number or binary grades.
- Scorecard - using pre-defined assessment criteria.
To enable:
- Choose your required option from the list.
- Click Save.
Read the assessor's guide to adding a grade.
Set-up a scorecard
As a workspace manager, you can set-up a scorecard in one of two ways:
- Unweighted - a number is added to each row, and the cumulative score calculated.
- Weighted - each row represents a percentage of an overall 100%.
An optional alternative grade field can be included for an assessor to add free text. For example, if the calculated score equals 65, they can indicate an alternative grade of pass or fail.
To set-up:
- Choose Scorecard from the grade type options.
- Choose to add weightings, (if required).
- Choose to add additional grade, (if required).
- Click Add a new component.
- Type a title for the assessment criteria (e.g. grammar, or participation)
- Type a description to guide assessors and explain to learners.
- (If enabled) Add a weighting for this component (a percentage of the 100 total)
- Click Save in the pop-up modal.
- Repeat steps to add additional components as required.
- Click Save on the page.
Edit a scorecard
Once a scorecard has been used to give a grade on a submission, the ability to edit and make changes is limited.
You can change:
- a component title,
- a component description.
You cannot change:
- Weighted / unweighted setting,
- Alternative grade setting,
- Individual component weights (if in use).
To freely edit a scorecard, all instances where it is used must be recalled and deleted to unlock the grade settings.
