Regions within ATLAS help organise workspaces and provide a way to have different managers and customised settings for each faculty, school or department.
Create a region
At least one region must exist in your ATLAS organisation. Regions are typically created for each faculty, school or department within the wider institution.
You must be an ATLAS organisation manager to create a region.
To create:
- From the ATLAS dashboard, click the Manage [installation] button.
- Click the Regions tab.
- Click Create a region.
- Type a title and (optional) description.
- Choose to allow workspace managers to share resources, or not.
- Click Save.
When created, a region remains in setup mode until it is activated. This allows any workspaces or other activity to be hidden to others until it is ready to be published.
To activate:
- From the ATLAS dashboard, click the Manage [installation] button.
- Click the Regions tab.
- Untick Only show results with active status
- Click the 3-dot menu of the region and choose Edit.
- Click Activate region.
- Tick the confirmation and click Continue.
A region can be activated during the initial creation if it does not need to remain in setup mode.
Manage all regions
Regions are stored within your ATLAS organisation, with the management panel showing an overview of:
- Region name
- Status
- Managers
- Number of workspaces
To access:
- From the ATLAS dashboard, click the Manage [installation] button.
- Click the Regions tab.
- Click the region title to show additional information.
Manage a region
A region can have its own default settings applied, which are different from the organisation default settings. Each new workspace created will adopt the region settings.
To access:
- From the ATLAS dashboard, click the region title.
- Click the menu tabs to customise the region's settings.
An organisation manager can access all regions, whereas a region manager can access only the regions they are enrolled on.
Delete a region
When a region is deleted, all workspaces it contains will also be deleted - making them unavailable and inaccessible to all users.
To delete:
- From the ATLAS dashboard, click the Manage [installation] button.
- Click the Regions tab.
- Untick Only show results with active status.
- Click the 3-dot menu of the region and choose Delete.
- Tick the confirmation box and click Continue.
Only organisation managers are able to restore a deleted region.
To restore:
- From the ATLAS dashboard, click the Manage [installation] button.
- Click the Regions tab.
- Untick Only show results with active status.
- Click the 3-dot menu of the region and choose Delete.
- Tick the confirmation box and click Continue.
Only the region will be reactivated. Any workspaces remain deleted and need to be restored separately from the region's workspaces page.
