PebblePad for resource builders

A resource builder can create custom templates or workbooks that provide a page structure with prompts to guide learning for a subject discipline or module.

What is a resource?

A resource is a blank form. It can consist of a single page, known as a template, or multiple pages, known as a workbook.

Either version provides a pre-determined structure made of content blocks that include text areas, selection lists and other field types.

The order of the blocks on a page, and the presence of titles and hint text, act as a useful guide for the person completing the page.

Each time the blank resource is used, it is saved as an asset response. This asset is personal to the responder, typically a learner, and saved in their private Asset Store

Why build a resource?

The creative tools available in PebblePad give learners the opportunity to create, design and complete an asset based on their needs.

Meanwhile, a resource guides learners through a process with hints and provides fields to write, select or attach specific information. The structure is typically based on an assessor's needs, or course requirements.

These two approaches can be combined, having both the structure of a resource, and the flexibility of the creative tools with the use of placeholder pages.

Who can build a resource?

Anyone with a full PebblePad account has access to the template builder and workbook builder. Only those with an external account cannot build a resource.

Typically, a custom resource is built by a Learning Designer, or someone making a template or workbook on behalf of a discipline or course.

However, learners themselves can also make their own resources to use, and create an asset response. This approach is useful when frequently capturing an activity or experience.

What resources are available?

All resources available to each user can be accessed from their Resource Store and can be grouped into three types:

Owned by me

If you have built a template, or built a workbook, the master resource is saved in your Resource Store. As its owner, you have full permission to edit the resource, make a copy, or even delete the resource.

Shared with me

A resource can be shared with someone by:

Only a resource owner can share with people, and only a workspace manager can share a resource via workspace.

PebblePad generic

A collection of in-built templates are available to all users. They help learners structure responses for common activities and experiences, such as meeting notes, action plans and reflections.

A platform administrator is able to add and remove templates from this list.
