Build a workbook

A workbook is a structured resource containing multiple pages. It's built by adding templates or placeholder pages and organised to guide a learner's response.

Open workbook builder

All users with access to Pebble+ can create an unlimited number of workbooks. By building it, you are the workbook owner.

To build:

  1. From the burger menu, choose Get creative> Create a workbook.

    Burger menu
  2. With the builder open, click Save.
  3. Type a title into the field, and click Confirm
  4. The workbook is saved to your Resource Store.

Add a page

A new workbook resource is blank. You choose the type of page that is added, repeating as many times as needed for each new page.

To add:

  1. Click the + icon

  2. Select the type of page to add.

  • New template page - Adds a new, blank template to be built from scratch.
  • Existing resource - Opens your Resource Store to choose a resource (see nested workbooks)
  • Placeholder page - Opens the Get Creative dashboard to choose the type of placeholder page.

Rename a page

Pages added will be labelled New page. Resources added from the Resource Store will be labelled with their resource title.

To change:

  1. Click the cog icon of the page
  2. Type the new name in the text field
  3. Click Confirm to save the change

Rename page modal

Renaming a resource's name in a workbook will not change its title in the Resource Store.

Remove a page

If no longer needed, a page can easily be removed from a workbook.

To remove:

  1. Click the cog icon of the page.
  2. Click Remove this page button.

    Remove page modal

Caution: if a page has not been made available for reuse in your Resource Store, it will be fully deleted.

Nested workbook

A single page in a workbook can itself be converted into what's called a nested workbook. This creates a dropdown menu of pages.

To convert:

  1. Click the + icon of the page.
  2. Click Convert to workbook button

    Convert to portfolio button

  3. New pages, and existing resources, can be added within the nested workbook.

    Add new page button

Add existing workbook

Where another workbook is saved in your Resource Store, this can be added as a nested workbook by choosing to add an existing resource.

A workbook can only be nested once within the same resource.

Adjust properties

The properties for the overall workbook, and each individual block, control its appearance and function.

To change:

  1. Click Properties to open the sidebar.

  2. Click the block once. A blue border will confirm it is highlighted to show the block's properties.

  3. Click the menu tab to switch between the property levels.

Try a workbook

While making a workbook, you are in build view. From here, you can switch to see how a workbook appears to a learner in edit view.

To switch:

  1. Click the Try this workbook button.

  2. A temporary response (edit view) is created, but not saved.
  3. Test the workbook acting in the learner role.
  4. Click Back to workbook builder to return to build view.

To use a workbook yourself, read how to create an asset response.
