When using a resource in the Resource Store, an asset response is created and saved to the Asset Store. Anyone can create a response, including a resource owner.
What is an asset response?
A resource is the blank template or workbook. When it is used by someone to complete, a copy of the resource is created and saved in the Asset Store. This is called an asset response.
The template properties or workbook properties determine how many asset responses each person can make of a resource:
- one - single use,
- a limited number - prompt before reuse,
- an unlimited number - allow reuse without prompting.
Resource-asset link
Every asset response created remains permanently linked to the resource from which it was taken. Editing the resource at any time, for example reordering blocks or rewriting hint text, will change the layout for:
- existing asset responses, and,
- new asset responses.
Editing a live resource should be performed with caution.
Create an asset response
When the resource is shared with people or shared via an ATLAS workspace, an asset response can be created by clicking its title in the Resource Store.
The learner's asset response is saved in their individual Asset Store.
See the learner's guide to complete a template or complete a workbook
Create your own asset response
If you own a resource, having built the template or built the workbook yourself, or given co-author permission when the resource was shared, you can also create your own asset responses.
You can do this to:
- use the resource yourself to structure your own work,
- thoroughly test the resource from a learner's perspective.
To use:
- From the Resource Store, click the resource's title
- Choose Create response from the menu.
- The template/workbook will open in edit view (to complete)
- Click Save.
- The template/workbook is saved as an asset in your Asset Store.
The Edit resource / Create response menu only appears for resources you own, or co-own.
