Create a PebblePad assignment in Blackboard

The workspace manager can set-up an ATLAS assignment to integrate with a Blackboard course and provide learners access to Pebble+ tools and templates to use.






About PebblePad and Blackboard


When a PebblePad assignment is incorporated into a Blackboard course, it provides:





When the two platforms are connected at a local level, Blackboard course to ATLAS workspace, it sets-up:




The Blackboard course roster will synchronise to the ATLAS workspace with these roles:

Role recognition


When the assignment link is clicked by a Student (learner) in Blackboard, it can either:


  • Open Pebble+ onto the dashboard, or,
  • Open Pebble+ and directly into a selected template or workbook, or,
  • Open Pebble+, directing into a selected template or workbook, with auto submit enabled.


When the assignment link is clicked by an Instructor (assessor/manager) in Blackboard, it 

  • Opens ATLAS into the workspace.



At minimum, you will need to be a region creator to set-up a Blackboard-linked assignment. Contact your platform administrator for assistance.







Add a PebblePad assignment to Blackboard


Adding the first PebblePad assignment link in Blackboard will set up both:


  • course-to-workspace connection,  
  • assignment-to-assignment connection.





To add:

  1. In the Blackboard course, click + and choose Content Market.
  2. Click + (not the tile) of PebblePad and ATLAS via LTI 1.3
  3. From the new assignment item, click the 3-dot menu and choose Edit.
  4. Click the title to rename.
  5. Change the dropdown to Visible to students.
  6. Tick Create gradebook entry for this item.
  7. Set Maximum points to 100.
  8. Type a description to guide learners.
  9. Click Save to confirm the assignment settings.
  10. Click the assignment title to open the ATLAS wizard.
  11. Choose Active mode from the options.
  12. Click Finish to set-up the workspace.
  13. Complete the assignment settings and click Save.
  14. Close the browser tab to return to Blackboard.


Assignment dates set within Blackboard will not synchronise into the ATLAS workspace.

Add a resource to assignment link


A custom template or custom workbook can be associated to the assignment link, directing a learner straight to it when Pebble+ is opened. 


The resource must be owned or co-owned by you, or made available as an Other ATLAS Resource.



To add:

  1. Click the assignment link in Blackboard to open the ATLAS workspace.
  2. Click the Resources tab.
  3. Click the folder icon to add a resource.
  4. (Optional) In the auto-submit panel, choose Yes and select the correct assignment.
  5. Search for the resource and click Select item.
  6. In the panel, Destination for VLE/LMS link, choose Yes and select the correct assignment
  7. Tick the confirmation and click Continue.

Add multiple assignments


Additional PebblePad assignments can be linked from the same Blackboard course to the connected workspace.



To add:

  1. In the Blackboard course, click + and choose Content Market.
  2. Click + (not the tile) of PebblePad and ATLAS via LTI 1.3
  3. From the new assignment item, click the 3-dot menu and choose Edit.
  4. Click the title to rename.
  5. Change the dropdown to Visible to students.
  6. Tick Create gradebook entry for this item.
  7. Set Maximum points to 100.
  8. Type a description to guide learners.
  9. Click Save to confirm the assignment settings.
  10. Click the assignment title to open the ATLAS wizard.
  11. Complete the assignment settings and click Save.
  12. Close the browser tab to return to Blackboard.
